How to determine if a fire pump is needed?

• Gather information about fire water supply.
• Calculate the required flow.
• Calculate the required pressure.
• Provide fire water tank and fire pump if supply cannot meet flow.
• If pressure cannot be met, get a fire pump.
• If the supply can meet the required pressure and flow, no fire water tank or fire pump is required.

How to choose a fire pump:

• Select the pump where the flow demand is between 100% and 150% of the rated flow. Preferably between 115% and 135%.
